In this lesson, you’re going to learn a step-by-step approach for how to draw draw lips. You’ll see how to construct the lips from basic shapes and then learn how to shade it in to give it dimension.

The basic idea behind this approach is that the lip is made up of a number of soft pockets of tissue. These pockets gives the lips it’s unique shape.

So in the video, you’ll see how Michael begins with drawing out these pockets and then constructing the lips from there.

Drawing the lips this way will make it much easier for you to visualize how the lips are really shaped and capture all the subtle curves.

Even though the example in the video is a female lips, this approach can be used to draw male lips as well. You just have to make the pockets thinner.
