I was looking through my “How To Draw Realistic Portrait From Photographs” course and I found this video that I think you’d really like.
It explains the difference between a “hard edge” and a “soft edge”.
This is a big secret to realistic drawing.
If you are a beginner who find that your portrait just looks a little “off”, you might find that answer to your problem in this short video:
Hard Edge vs Soft Edge
If you wanna learn more about portrait drawing, check out my “Portrait Fundamentals Made Simple” course.
It’s a very beginner-friendly course that walks you through all the basics of portraiture, from constructing a basic head, facial proportions, drawing the features, and finally drawing a realistic portrait step-by-step.

Hi Edwards,
Yes of course. The videos will be yours to do with as you wish. That include burning them onto a CD or DVD or put them into a laptop or hard drive so you can have them with you when you are on the go.
If you like, I also offer the option of having me create the DVD disk for you. All you have to do is order the course and then send me your mailing address. And I will send you the disks.
Also, sorry about the email. I must’ve typed it incorrectly. The correct email is [email protected] (The big difference is that it has an “s’ at the end of “tutorial”).
Let me know what you’d like.
Thanks for the question, Ed.
Love the tips. Now that I have a sampling I will definitely buy your cd instructions. Thank you.
Judy
Awesome! Thanks, Judy!
very nice,and helpful
I have watched your videoswith interest. Is it possible to have these with subtitles.? I am deaf and I presume there is talk going on while the video is playing but most of what i see is your pencil waving about & i have to guess what you are saying about what you draw
Are there booklets to explain?
Best wishes
Bill
Hi Bill,
Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I don’t have any booklets made for the lessons at this time. Although in the future when I have more resource, I want to create a transprite for every lessons so you can read them if you choose.
For now, one option that might work is to watch the video on youtube. Here’s the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lToYe3rUIwM
Youtube has a caption function where they try to transcribe the video as you watch it. To activate it, just click on the button that looks like a piece of paper with lines written on it. It is located under the video and to the far right of the “Like” thumbs up button (it’s the last button to the right).
The function is not perfect right now and it makes a lot mistake but it is the best option I can think of right now.
I hope that helps.
great job neeed to trythat
